California poppies

They're beautiful, aren't they? Poppies. They're the California state flower, and they grow wild in spring. So it's that time of the year and they've sprung just about everywhere. I've never been there, but there's a place in Northern Los Angeles County called Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve where you can see 1,700 acres of poppies in bloom each spring.

They're such a delicate flower that closes up a night and then with the sun pops open and presents its full orange petals.
