Carolyn’s 3 – Week 4

Happy Halloween, everyone. To get you in the mood for this week's music selects, DJ Carolyn has teed up the following three picks. Thanks, Carolyn. Loved these.

#1. Heart on Fire by Scars on 45 (New Song).

I got to meet this band from Leeds this summer at WXRV, and they are all lovely and funny and real. Frontman Danny Bemrose used to be a professional soccer player for England's Huddersfield Town F.C. but then broke his foot at age 21. This is what he came up with in his "retirement". Not lacking in talent, he.

#2. Confetti by The Lemonheads.

I don't know anyone in the late 80s and 90s who didn't have a wee crush on founder Evan Dando (that voice, that hair, those catchy hooks). This is my favorite song of theirs. (1992).

NB: Here's the acoustic version. Official version wasn't "share-able." Official version found here.

#3. Helpless by k.d. lang.

She, who is always astoundingly pitch perfect, covers Neil Young here (and on her Songs of the 49th Parallel album). Two of my favorite artists.
