Mugs To MomI spent some time in Wilton recently going through boxes and boxes of stuff in our attic. Endless stuff. There were a few gems however that I came across including this one, a Mother's Day gift I made in Brownies for my Mom. I think I was in 3rd grade.

After receiving it, my Mom hung this plate on our kitchen wall for some 25 years. Every time she'd look at what I drew, she'd smile, thinking of the comment that Mrs. O'Donnell, my Brownie troop leader and her friend, said to her after Mother's Day.

Let's just say I wasn't a shy kid, and like today, I had a lot to say back then. So when Mrs. O'Donnell looked at my drawing, something pretty huge stood out to her, or rather, didn't. She took my Mother aside and said, I just find it ironic that kid with the biggest mouth forgets to draw her own.

By having this picture hang on our kitchen wall maybe my Mom was projecting some wishful thinking of having a less mouthy kid. Who knows.

Haha. This is priceless. What I notice is the major bling on your left wrist. It really does look like you, Mugs. Did you really draw yourself walking on water? Now, that’s my confident girl!

I love that plate. Adorable. Also love that it is still on one piece, years later. Your mom really loves you!
